Regional Renewable Energy Alliance

ADVISE structured a renewable energy alliance, aligning developers, technical providers and local partners around project screening, delivery responsibilities and shared commercial decision-making.
The challenge
The prospective alliance brought together organisations with complementary capabilities but different expectations of ownership, origination rights and delivery responsibility. Early discussions focused on the scale of the regional opportunity without resolving who would qualify projects or carry development costs. Country-specific permitting and procurement conditions added complexity. The partners needed a working commercial structure that could support collaboration without obscuring individual obligations or encouraging premature project commitments.
Our approach
ADVISE mapped each partner's capabilities, market access and intended contribution, then tested these against representative project requirements. Workshops addressed origination, technical diligence, proposal approval, cost allocation and escalation. The team developed partnership principles, a project screening process and governance arrangements for joint opportunities. Specialist legal and technical advisers were brought into defined review points, keeping commercial alignment separate from the formal agreements needed for individual projects.
The result
The alliance gained an agreed operating framework for assessing opportunities and assembling project teams. Partners could distinguish shared business development activity from commitments requiring separate approval. The screening process exposed permitting, customer and delivery questions before proposals advanced, while governance arrangements established how disagreements would be addressed. Collaboration rested on documented responsibilities and decision rights rather than informal assumptions about what each participant would contribute.
Outcomes
- Agreed partner roles and decision rights
- Common project screening process
- Structured collaboration and escalation
