ADVISE shaped a logistics expansion strategy from Tema, prioritising regional corridors, customer segments and operating partnerships against the practical demands of cross-border delivery.

The challenge

The logistics business faced several plausible growth routes but lacked a consistent method for comparing them. Customer enquiries suggested demand beyond existing corridors, yet border procedures, empty return journeys and partner reliability could undermine apparently attractive routes. Management also needed to protect service quality in the established business. The strategy had to distinguish expansion supported by operational capability from opportunities that depended on untested assumptions.

Our approach

ADVISE assessed customer shipment patterns, corridor conditions, service requirements and the capabilities of potential local partners. Route economics were examined alongside documentation responsibilities, return-load prospects and exception handling. The team developed strategic options with explicit entry conditions and management demands. A phased roadmap identified which corridors could use the existing operating base, where partnerships were necessary and which opportunities should remain under observation.

The result

Management adopted an expansion sequence based on service readiness and customer fit rather than geographic coverage alone. Each priority corridor had a defined commercial proposition, operating model and set of unresolved dependencies. The strategy gave sales and operations a shared basis for evaluating new business, including when to decline unsuitable work. It also connected growth decisions to the capabilities required to maintain existing service commitments.

Outcomes

  • Prioritised regional growth corridors
  • Defined partnership and entry conditions
  • Aligned commercial and operating decisions
