INNOVATE implemented a commercial CRM for a Lagos services business, linking account relationships, opportunity qualification and delivery handovers within a governed sales process.
The challenge
The business maintained valuable customer relationships but depended heavily on individual account managers to retain their history. Opportunity stages reflected personal judgement rather than common qualification rules, and delivery teams sometimes inherited commitments without supporting context. Duplicate records complicated reporting across business units. Management needed a CRM that improved commercial discipline while protecting relationship information and avoiding a burdensome reporting exercise detached from daily account work.
Our approach
INNOVATE defined account hierarchies, contact permissions and opportunity stages with explicit entry and exit criteria. Data cleansing reconciled duplicate organisations and preserved relevant relationship history. Workflows connected discovery notes, proposals, approvals and handover requirements, while dashboards distinguished pipeline activity from qualified commercial progress. The implementation included role-specific training and review routines so that adoption depended on useful working practices rather than compulsory data entry alone.
The result
The CRM established a shared commercial record that remained useful beyond individual account ownership. Managers could review opportunities against consistent qualification criteria, and delivery teams received clearer information about scope and customer expectations. Controlled account access protected sensitive relationships while supporting collaboration where appropriate. Commercial reviews became better grounded in recorded customer needs, next actions and approval status rather than subjective descriptions of pipeline confidence.
Outcomes
- Governed account and opportunity records
- Consistent commercial qualification
- Structured sales-to-delivery handovers
